southbank autos chertsey lane shepperton

Anonymous — Sat, 12/11/2011 - 8:15am

after having put my van in for a minor head gasket repair with all items (turbo and injectors) working fine, it took over 6 months to never repair it, after being told time and time again the job would be "done next week" we noticed some parts missing from the van (turbo and diesel pump)....at a chase up visit... after numerous chase up calls he said he had done the job but couldnt start the van.... and we then took it to another garage who... wait for it started it straight away.... but found the turbo had been switched for a faulty one... ! along with injectors which have now cost over £1000 to replace... be careful of this thieving lying garage

Kwik Fit conned me out of £400 by running down my battery & alternator while the car was left in their care

Anonymous — Wed, 17/08/2011 - 11:21am

Ripped me off for £400 by running down my battery & alternator while the car was left in their care. I put my car into Kwik Fit Cheltenham Road, Bristol for an MOT the day before I was due to go on holiday. The car failed its MOT and Kwik Fit told me that they needed to order a small part in order for it to pass and I should keep the car on their forecourt while I was away, otherwise I'd have to pay for a retest if I took the car away. I left the keys with them and they said they'd fit the part and pass the car's MOT while I was on holiday.

LVS Livingston, West Lothian

Anonymous — Tue, 23/11/2010 - 10:50am

Hi

My son (aged 19) dropped our car off for a regular service which LVS carried out at a reasonable cost of £100. They advised him that they noticed a few additional problems that they could fix so my son agreed for them to carry out the additional work (assuming an additional cost of around a similar amount).

They didn't provide any indication of what the work would cost. The first my son knew of the price was when he was presented with a bill of just under £700. At no point did they attempt to contact my son and confirm the work based on the cost. When my son picked up the car he had no choice but to settle the bill.

The following day the car broke down. My son took the car to a different garage where they identified over ten obvious faults. They carried out all the repairs necessary and presented a bill of £100 (which is exactly what we would have expected from LVS.).

Business Review: Halfords

Anonymous — Sun, 29/08/2010 - 3:32pm

I bought a footpump and left it in the boot of the car for emergency/occasional use. The first time I used it a few months after purchase was to blow up a small 8 inch tyre on boat launching trolley. The pump fell apart; the gauge fell off and rendered it useless. I returned it to Halfords in its original box in brand new condition (but not working). In was shocked when they refused a refund, offering only a replacement as i did not have the receipt. I pointed out that it was a Halfords own brand pump the same as the ones on sale but they were adamant, no receipt, no refund.

Business Review: Foreign Car Spares

Anonymous — Mon, 23/08/2010 - 7:28pm

I ordered a crank position sensor for a 1997 Toyota Avensis (AF-7E engine) and received one for a VVTi engine which Toyota used on the Mk 1 Avensis from 2000-2003. I retunred it for a refund and i'm still waiting. I too have involved Trading Standards (BBC Watchdog next!) and i'll see what happens, maybe i should contact the VAT and Inland Revenue also! Avoid them like the plague. Just a thought but the one good comment about them might just be from FCS themselves?

Business Review: Kwik Fit

Anonymous — Mon, 23/08/2010 - 7:25pm

Took my car in to get two disc pads replaced but was told I needed four. (Was not shocked by this as was aware they were on a form of commission). Left the car in perfect condition but when I came to pick the car up, there was a huge crack in the windscreen. The manager denied that Kwik Fit caused the crack and stated I left the car in their car park at my own risk. The manager also stated that it is likely that the tax disc caused my windscreen to shatter. I took the car to RAC to get the windscreen to be replaced at my own expense.

Business Review: Autotek Electronics

Anonymous — Sat, 06/02/2010 - 11:02am

I have a faulty ECU for my Honda Prelude. I live closeby and took it to them personally. They "tested" it and told me it was completely dead and could repair it for a total of £249.99 (including the test charge). 3 days later I go and pick up my "repaired" ECU only to try it in my car and find out that it is no diffrerent what so ever. I take it back the following day, they re-test it and say it's all fine and as a precaution they replaced the "ignition amplifier output stage" (I'm not thick, this is not an electrical component.
