We were looking for a new kitchen and had a look at lots of places B&Q, Homebase, etc ffor showrooms but did not feel that we could afford these as had appointment at Homebase £14000+ quoted. We also tried Space Kitchens and Kitchens Direct for non-showrooms and after problems with Direct made appointment with Space.
I agree with the tactics used, 2 hours of non-kitchen talk and then 2 hours of drawing and discussing our kitchen. Also felt a bit underpressure when told 'now or never' for quote but we agreed.
After going to work and thinking about the quote, both me and my partner thought we couldn't afford original quote so call area manager and cancelled contract then within 24hrs.
He said keep the CAD designer as already paid for and we agreed as we had no obligiation at this point.
Looked at Kitchen and it was exact what we asked for and the price had now been dropped to price could afford, took finance option as we thought pay upfront might end up with no kitchen and they do runner (we had all money anyway).
Booked delivery and installation for two weeks from surveyor date. Was given Project Manager mobile and two days later, he arrived with new contract to sign. We also wanted to amend design, this was done without hassle and now was perfect.
Delivery called day before to state time slot, delivery day they arrived 2 hours early not a problem, actually was big help as had things to do.
Two days later was first installation day, Install department said they will be at 9.30. Installers arrived at 8am, fantastic and they cracked on with it straight away. Worked almost tirelessly til 5.30 we had 1/2 kitchen in with all appliances working.
Day two of installation arrived earlier and again cracked on with it! After two days kitchen in and all done.
