Business Review: Quinn Direct

ayoung24829 — Fri, 19/02/2010 - 10:19pm

We chose to go with Quinn Direct car insurance because they offered the cheapest price. We paid extra for included breakdown cover . This meant that should we need breakdown/recovery, Quinn would report it to RAC for us, and they would arrange for recovery to come and tow the car away. We would then be provided with a courtesy car.

This is in fact a very good deal, or it would have been if we'd have received the service which we paid for. After crashing the car this morning, we phoned Quinn Direct to report the accident. This was at around 10am. We were told that they would report the car to the RAC and would arrange for collection, and that they would then ring us back regarding arranging a courtesy car. However after several hours we still hadn't received a phone call.

We rang Quinn, and got directed to several different departments, who then told us we were ringing the wrong department. After having rung a ridiculous amount of phone numbers and getting absolutely no-where, we rang RAC directly, who told us that they had not received a call-out from Quinn Direct. RAC were very helpful and collected the car within the hour. However it was nearing 5pm by this time, which meant that it was too late in the day to arrange for a courtesy car to be collected. Now we are left without a car because Quinn Direct did not provide the service which we paid for.

What???!!

Am I missing something here??!! Quinn-Direct don't charge for Breakdown Cover its FREE!!!!!! At least that is what it says on their website and from what I heard from a helpful Customer Service rep within their call-centre is RAC is not with who they get the Breakdown Cover from. It is with a company called Euro-Assist who in turn contact the nearest garage to come out!!!

And why ring Quinn anyway?? The number of the Breakdown Cover is in the policy book!!!

It amazes me how many people DON'T actually read their documents or listen to what they are told on the phone.
