Museum of Wales (eBay)

Anonymous — Wed, 19/01/2011 - 8:37pm

The Museum of Wales is an ebay power seller dealing with paintings from known and unknown artist´s.

To increase the selling price of their paintings the company is using auction results and pictures next to their item which are showing a high value.

These high value pictures makes the bidder believe to get a high value picture for a small amount of money.

In my case I passed my paintings bought on ebay straightaway to well known auctioneers.  I have received several valuations from Sotheby´s, Christie´s, Bonhams, Rosebery´s etc. which have pointed out that these paintings are from low value. Yes, maybe original but not really in the style of the artist or without that value which they have shown at ebay. For example paintings from Winifried Walker- All the plants of the Bible. Advertised on ebay with an auction result of 900 Pounds. The Auctioneer has passed on in his mail to me that these paintings has been sold in his auction as in packed of 100. Result: 9 Pound each.

I have written to the ebay power seller and he has agreed to collect the picture and to give a refund in full but only if you make changes to your given negative feedback. All documented.

The Museum of Wales is still selling his paintings on ebay. I am still waiting for my refund since September 2010.

I haven´t heart anything from the power seller until now.

I have reported to ebay their behavior and to use their reimbursement policy. Ebay´s answer in their mail: we appolygise but are not able  to get involved because you are still able to make contact with the seller. I pointed out to ebay that the seller has confirmed to make a refund and that they should have a closer look in my mail account. Ebay took a closer look at the messages but haven´t changed their mind.

Contacted the Trading standard. They have said the same, write to them and phone them up. Nothing has worked out so far because they are not to reach.

Fairtrade is a zero by the power seller, ebay and the trading standard wasn´t helpful as well. All evidence is in place- low value such as the paintings.

1000 Pounds pocketed and still trading.

My advise:    Don´t buy from the Museum of Wales. They are power sellers without any link to any organisations or museums.

Dear team :

If you do know a way to get my money back then don´t hesitate to contact me

sygun museumofwales is

Anonymous — Sun, 30/01/2011 - 2:54pm

sygun museumofwales is engaged in persistent organised fraud. I have not bought anything from them but they have fake, misdescribed artwork for sale at anytime on a huge scale. I have also reported them to trading standards, to ebay and to the welsh tourist board. Ebay are a disgrace in not taking action to protect consumers.

(Sygun) museumofwales on Ebay

Anonymous (not verified) — Tue, 26/04/2011 - 5:47pm

(Sygun) museumofwales on Ebay and their other company prioryfineart are also engaged in shill bidding. To the uninitiated, this means using several accounts on Ebay to bid up their own items, thereby making the buyers pay far beyond the amount they could buy the items for. Unfortunately, both of these sellers use private feedback so it is impossible to see the names of other bidders. However, prioryfineart have been listing items recently that are not private. Just take a look at their feedback, view the items, and look at the bidding history. You will see the same semi-anonymous ids over and over again. This has been reported to Ebay on several occasions with no action taken.

I have long distrusted these

Anonymous (not verified) — Tue, 27/09/2011 - 10:16pm

I have long distrusted these people. I have paintings listed by them on Ebay purporting to be signed by a particular artist and yet I have previously viewed that painting in a UK saleroom where it bore NO signature. Ifthat'snot dishonesty, what is? I see they have since changed their Ebay name to museum-fine-art ...
