Business Review: Embers Sleaford and Horncastle (Updated: 14/12/2010)

Anonymous — Thu, 06/05/2010 - 5:01pm

This is my opinion only....

At first everything seems ok. But their ability to stick to a deadline is ...well bad. The goal posts keep moving. They always have problems with sub contractors, and work is NEVER completed in time. There employees leave your house/home in a state, as they never clean up after themselves …...Would never say they were a trusty company.

They always leave you in the dark. and only inform you of a problem late in the day or on a friday, which ever brings them back the following week......to your cost

As you can tell Im not a happy customer, and its only after I let them into my life, that I hear bad things about them.....even from there own sub contractors

This is my opinion and if I could start again I would..........but not with them.

Anonymous — Mon, 20/12/2010 - 9:36pm

Embers> where should I start. The threats, the lying, the down right shoddy workmanship, the abusive behavior, the stalking ? All i would say to anyone consdering having any plumbing work done, DONT GO TO EMBERS !! The little weasel that runs this company is no nothing cowboy. He has even signed the company to the poor lass in the office so he dont get walloped when the company goes tits up. U may find this weasel is behind a company called uk gas and oil too. there a lot of companies with similar names so I cant say to much about it cuz i dont know which one he involved in. Oh and careful where you buy milkshake from around sleaford. That could leave as nastier taste in your mouth as having embers do work in your house.

the little weasel responds to your e mail, firstly one can only assume your education was non existent as your spelling is appalling. You are also a coward who hides behind e mails which are obviously written by a very yellow spineless idiot who is envious and jealous of a proper man who is very successful in all he does in life. One must therefore assume you are an ex member of staff OR a partner of one of the ex directors, sour grapes come to mind !!!! My door is open please come and see me to discuss your issues and whilst your here you can peruse our client file and see that we are a very smart company with a 99% SATISFACTION RATE.I have also taken a print off of your silly e mail and delivered it to the cafe in town who does milk shakes , that lady knows a private investigator who is excellent at I.T !!!kind regards THE BOSS

"The Boss", we are writing

FoulBusiness — Wed, 19/01/2011 - 8:03am

"The Boss", we are writing this on here publicly because we can't confirm your email address is correct.

I have read your posting and will respond by each sentence.

(A)You are correct in saying that information on-line which tarnishes the reputation of a business or individual is in act of libel. However if the information is true, it is not libel. Truth is considered a complete defense in a defamation lawsuit. It is not slander. Slander is something which is physically spoken.

(B)FoulBusiness under absolutely no circumstances will ever hand over the details of the author who wrote this review, or any other FoulBusiness user as per our terms of service and privacy policy, both of which can be found at the bottom of this page. FoulBusiness refuses to hand over this information to anyone because nobody has any right to obtain others' information.

(C)FoulBusiness will not be contacting you by phone as we have already tried to converse with you via email to no avail. We sent another email to you today (18/01/2011) which you have failed to respond to also.

(D)In regards to verifying content, can we point out section 6 of our terms of service, in particular the following paragraph: "You acknowledge that FoulBusiness UK has no obligation to monitor Content. FoulBusiness UK and its designees shall have the right (but not the obligation) in their sole discretion to refuse, move or remove any Content that is available via the Services that violates the TOS or is otherwise objectionable. You agree that you must evaluate, and bear all risks associated with, the use of any Content, including any reliance on the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of such Content"

(E)In regards to issuing court proceedings, please note that you have failed to respond to our email multiple times. If you had responded to those emails, FoulBusiness would have worked with you in removing this review. One of the processes of removing a review is often completing a Defamation Form. The defamation form is essentially a short version your speech in the courts which FoulBusiness will look at it. This takes less than 10 minutes to complete. The courts will often require that you fill out a similar form anyway, often only taking action if the defendant (us) has received the form in writing. Please note that filling in the FoulBusiness Defamation Form does not require a hand written copy of the form sent by postal mail (email is acceptable).

(F)FoulBusiness has no intention to read books regarding this matter.

TO CONCLUDE:-

FoulBusiness would much prefer that we settle this matter between ourselves, there is no need for court action, solicitors or lawyers to get involved. To get this matter solved, and follow the instructions we would have sent to you via email (had we heard a response), please go to http://foulbusiness.co.uk/content/reporting-a-defamatory-review.

Please respond with your thoughts regarding this matter.

I can say absolutely that

Anonymous — Wed, 19/01/2011 - 1:02pm

I can say absolutely that Embers are an appaling company, and that the quality of their work is terrible.

And yes I am going to stay anonymous, because 'The Boss' (Martin) is slippery and devious and I do not trust him in the slightest. But I will happily keep a watch on this page and accompany Foulbusiness to court if necessary; the comments made here by customers are acurate, and Embers are cowboys, in fact The Boss has pretty much underlined that with his responses, for a start, why should 'ex members of staff' be so unhappy that the would take the time to write bad comments?

This company cannot possibly have a 99% customer satisfaction rate:

If this were true why has nobody posted a positive comment?

Why have Embers dropped the name 'Embers' (now known as UK Oil & Gas)?

Why have they closed their Horncastle shop?

Why does everyone in the Horncastle area seem to have a bad story to tell about Embers?

Why are they so well known by HSE (who I believe are in the process of taking them to court) and Trading Standards?

I believe that the reason the the company has been transfered to someone else is that 'The Boss' has been taken to court, or banned from directorship or at the very least he's trying to rebrand the company and distance it from the appaling image that it has.

As for proof that Embers are dishonest, they were not members of OFTEC, HETAS, or CORGI, yet they claimed that they were members on their website.

I should almost guarentee that they will attempt to put a bogus comment/review on here from a 'satisfied customer' too.

Anonymous — Thu, 20/01/2011 - 8:35am

You are a very sad individual. Come to the shop and let yourself be known. It is very apparent from your comment that you are clueless about myself and my companies. The net is closing in on you. I will find out who you are. The only people who can remain annonimous seem to be high profile affulent people. I can guarantee that you are a very little weasel (To the owner of this website this comment of weasel should be allowed to stand as it is in his emails about myself)All emails are traceable unless you have a pay as you go smart phone which I can guarantee you do not own as you will be one of lifes great losers!!! All computers are linked to an IP address and my private Investigator will eventually find out who you are and court papers will be issued (This applies to FoulBusiness UK for allowing these outrageous comments into the public domain) You have no idea who you are dealing with here please come and find out. One does wonder what your problem is with myself or the companies that I operate. Once again sour grapes comes to mind. I look forward to meeting you very shortly.

To whom it may concern We act

Anonymous — Fri, 21/01/2011 - 10:34am

To whom it may concern
We act on behalf of UK GAS & OIL LTD. we are libel lawyers, our client has instructed us to act and remove the very serious and damaging allegations that have been made available to the general public on your website by individual/s currently unknown. They are misconceived and formulaic allegations and are inaccurate and defamatory
of our client and should not be further published or disseminated. Furthermore our client has produced evidence which contradicts your clients comments. Our client holds every professional qualification for his chosen industry and has had some thirty years experiencein his chosen field of expertise. He is a very succesful man in his own right. All of his staff also hold qualifications for their chosen fields. We are satisfied that your client can be sued for libel. Our client has employed the services of a private investigator to enlighten him who is behind these inaccurate and defamatory remarks which have been published on YOUR website. The plumbing and heating industry is blighted by cowboys, it is very cut throat, the business Embers your one stop plumbing and heating shop has been around for 10 years. It has achieved a very high percentage of satisfied customers. On the basis of this and looking towards the future the business is relocating to a superstore on the high street. It continues to go from strength to strength. Our client readily admits that from late 2008 to late 2010 there were problems within the business owing to, two lazy incompetant individuals which were unfortunately employed by the company for way too long. This problem has now been rectified. Once again we have seen ample proof that the current satisfaction rate is very high. Has in all walks of life not all customers will be happy with the level of service given. Banks, communication and airline companies seem to bear the brunt of customer moans and groans however it has got to be the attack in this instance is also of a personel matter we are therefore surprised that Foulbusiness UK has allowed personel comments to be published into the public domain! We are also dismayed that you have failed in your duty of care to establish if your clients comments were true and accurate. We would now ask that these comments are removed immediately and an apology is written to our client. Failure to do so will result in libel action being taken. Our deadline is by close of business Friday 28th January 2011.
Yours sincerely

I have been in touch with Carter-Ruck about this posting, who then told me that none of their solicitors are responsible for this posting.

You have committed a court offence under Section 21 of the Solicitors Act. I have informed Carter-Ruck. Can I also point out that the IP address used to make this comment is the same IP address as that of the comments made by "the boss".

I left the comment at 19 Jan 2011 - 14:02, I would like to point out that I have never called called you a 'weasel' (perhaps you need to be made aware that there isn't actually a person called 'anonymous' who is writing the comments on this site), and so you are actually the one who is commiting libel! Also it is you only who has written personal comments and insults (perhaps I'll contact Carter-Ruck).

You have also made threats.

Also speaking of solictors, I've passed your details onto Bruce Springsteen who will be in touch shortly regarding the unsolicited use of his pseudonym.

Anonymous — Fri, 21/01/2011 - 3:52pm

PS, I find it very very hard to believe that a solicitor would say that the comments on this site are 'slander', as that relates to spoken word.

And it would be an offence for the site to pass any personal details on to you under the data protection act, have you really contacted a solitor?

Reading through the comments, you have commited far more libel than any other contributor on this page!

I would also suggest that your threats and comments on here have done nothing but underline my thoughts on you being unfit to conduct business, what person is going to let someone who rants and threatens as you have into their home?

To underline your dishonesty here is a snapshot of your website from 17/09/08, clearly claiming that you were members of HETAS, OFTEC, and CORGI, when you were not:

Brilliant! I was looking for a photo of 'The Boss' as a woman, I didn't realise it had been on TV too.

Mr Crute has passed directorship of UK Oil And Gas (the current trading name of Embers) to his secretary Christine, last time I heard.
