My sister and I also fell for the charm of this awful person. We commissioned him and his team to start work in Decemeber 2009 he said he worked for Omega Lifestyle and that he could do the work cheaper through his company Anglia Driveways, they turned up on the first day, ripped everything out of the garden (even things Michael said they would save) and burned it all! Alarm bells should have rang then, but at this point we had parted with £2200.

Someone turned up and put in the base for a wall to sit on, they laid it so it would overhang the gate and the drive wouldn't be wide enough to get a car through! The next attempt was less than 2" deep, bearing in mind this is a retaining wall and built single skin, I have no idea how long this will last. Weeks passed and we would see miminmal amounts of work happen, maybe someone would turn up to lay a row of bricks, and the excuse they couldn't continue was that Michael was meant to bring the rest over (the chap that had been sent came in a clio, with no space to bring the materials).

We had the excuse that his daughter had cancer, and that Michael was at the hospital by her bedside. Having just lost our mother to cancer, we understood that anyone would want to be there for their loved ones. However, I don't understand why this would stop his workforce from turning up to do the work. I'm saddened by the fact that someone would use family illness as an excuse. We waited months and months for the block paving to arrive, finally when it did I think Dean set to work in laying it, having only added a layer of sand over the previously laid drive.

The work took in excess of 5 months and was completed to the most appaulling standard, the slabs laid with no sand to sit on, so you could see light when looking under them, a number of them are loose, a couple of people have commented that fairy liquid has used in the motar, coping stones loose, no lining laid between the wall and the earth to stop the moisture destroying the wall, big chunks of motar dropped (by the son in law) when he laid the coping slabs on the block paving.

All I can say is seriously don't ever consider using this person or anyone associated with him! Unfortunatly I did a google search, but at the time there wasn't any feedback on Michael, and because I was in contact with Paving Quoter (who had sent me this guys details), I though we were safe and could trust them.
