Autotek Electronics

I have a faulty ECU for my Honda Prelude. I live closeby and took it to them personally. They "tested" it and told me it was completely dead and could repair it for a total of £249.99 (including the test charge). 3 days later I go and pick up my "repaired" ECU only to try it in my car and find out that it is no diffrerent what so ever. I take it back the following day, they re-test it and say it's all fine and as a precaution they replaced the "ignition amplifier output stage" (I'm not thick, this is not an electrical component.

Credit Repair - Beware the Scam Artists!

By Scott Zeeman

Credit repair seems to be the buzzword today. With our economy taking a long ride on the recession train, it seems that dozens of new credit repair companies spring up every week. This leaves the consumer with a sometimes terrorizing ordeal of trying to make the right decision concerning having an outside source repair their credit.

You obviously must be very careful when choosing the right company to help you improve your credit. Let's look at some of the warning signs to help you avoid the scam artists who are prevalent in this industry.

Number One- If a company or individual wants a large fee upfront before any work has been done, run, don't walk to the next exit. Many of these predators charge $500-$2500 upfront and are making a very good living doing absolutely nothing! Buyer beware.

Kwik-Fit

Trinity Estates

They have been managing our estate for 3 years. We are an apartment block of 12 flats on a new build estate and we are paying over £100 a month for a very poor service. I have gone through the budget breakdown with a fine tooth comb and we are paying about £300 a year too much for our service charge and after the joke of a service we received last year, some residents are seeking legal advice and are now withholding payment.

Weatherseal

After recieving a call from a young chap,i decided to let someone out to give me a quote on my windows. Over xmas i realised they were quite drafty! The boy told me it was a january sale i would get a huge discount if i took a price. The boy seemed to know what he was talking about and it sounded like a genuine promotion!

A man arrived at 6pm, came in and talked to me about my windows. told me the benefits of using his company. After about 1 and a half hours of designing my windows and a french door i decided to go ahead with the man! and i got a cracking deal 7 big sized windows french doors for 6500!

They surveyor came out the next day, checked all the measurements and a week later i got my installation date! The fitters were so efficent and the windows totally transformed my house! i could now get into my garden through the french doors instead of walking all the way round the back!

Life about to get hard for house "sale and rent back" rogues

The watchdog Financial Services Authority is introducing new rules to clamp down on the heartache caused by rogue "sale and rent back" firms.

This lot prey on people with money troubles and offer to buy their homes, promising they can still live in them as tenants paying rent. But victims get a rubbish price for their property, and sometimes even end up losing them.

We named one of the worst traders in this field, Philip Hope, our Villain of the Year for 2008.

In rules that will come into force at end of June, the FSA has:

Procook.co.uk

Placed an order with this company 6/01/10 for a 350ml Cafetiere,£20.00 in their sale. The post jumped from £4.95 to £19.99 because of my post code, knew i was being ripped off but i badly needed the item for 7/01/10,was being told on their site that i had 3 hours in which to order and receive by next day 7/01/10{the day i needed it} I was told by email that i would receive another email detailing tracking info, to date i haven't received it.

Autograph faker pulled from eBay

Sometimes even 100% positive eBay feedback should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Steve Smith thought he'd got a bargain after spending £465 on autographed Formula 1 memorabilia from eBay trader AF1STORE.

He even received "certificates of authentication" but was later told he'd bought expensive fakes.

We went for a second opinion from autograph dealer Garry King, of autografica.co.uk, who's also the vice-chairman of the Autograph Fair Trade Association.

FoulBusiness Ranks

Why have ranks?

Ranks were introduced as an incentive to see FoulBusiness as a more personalised, professional service. The more you do on FoulBusiness the more we want to give back. The more experienced you are at using our services and the more we get to know you and how you use FoulBusiness, the more services we would like to offer. E.g a new user account might be created on FoulBusiness, this account might be a spammer, so why would we consider allowing them to bypass our anti spam defences or allow them post comments without our approval by upgrading them to rank 3? Earn respect and you will get this benefit, if everyone gets this benefit posting comments will be much more fluent and instant because you have earned the respect from FoulBusiness and we know that you won't post spam or abuse our system. It’s the same for more benefits, the more respect, the more benefits.

Nicked! Disability conman Malcolm Tune jailed after going on the run

We've had a lovely Christmas present courtesy of HM Revenue and Customs. For two years conman Malcolm Tune has been on our Most Wanted list - but no more.

Here he is in handcuffs after being arrested by HMRC officers at Heathrow.

We told in December 2007 how he ripped-off the disabled with a Powertrike device that could be fitted to wheelchairs. They cost about £4,000 but were branded "inherently dangerous" by a judge, who labelled Tune "a nasty piece of work" for refusing refunds.
By then, the 62-year-old, from Orwell, Cambs, had fled the UK after being sentenced to five years' jail for running a fraudulent £2.5million tax scam.

But this year the former financial adviser was tracked down to Ireland.
